We Made It

We are in Addis. We are exhausted. There was some miscommunication with the head of the agency here. He was under the impression that we were told not to travel because the death certificate of Sophia's birth father was not presented to the judge last week and we didn't pass our preliminary court date. We are pretty discouraged because he isn't sure that he'll be able to locate it at all. If not, he'll have to ask the judge to decree that the city that he died in issue one. But, this is Ethiopia and things take a looong time to happen. This could take weeks or months to fix. We can still attend our court date tomorrow, but nothing will be official. We will merely give our consent but Sophia won't legally be ours yet.

On the very bright side, we got to meet her! Right when we arrived at the guest house they had the nanny bring her in. She is so sweet. She was happy to be with us and smiled a lot. Annie was sleeping while we met her (she only slept 2 hours on the plane) and it worked out nicely so that Matt and I could focus on Sophie.

I wish I could post pictures but can't until we pass court. We're thankful for a safe trip and looking forward to getting past the jet lag.
