Home

We're home now. We ended up cutting our trip short when Annie got sick. We were out for coffee with Endris and Melke on Sunday when she started vomiting and her temperature shot up to 103. I couldn't get it down with ibuprofen so we took her to a clinic in Addis. It really made me nervous because I didn't want them to draw blood or poke her with anything. The doctor prescribed an antibiotic for her and we gave her a dose and changed our flights to leave the next day.

Traveling home was rough. Leaving Sophia was so hard. I cried when we left her, on the ride to the airport, and when we flew away. I miss her so much already. But it was great to see family back home. We took Annie to the doctor here and she has strep. throat and tonsilitis. We're kind of holed up at home for now as we mend.

Jet lag can take a toll on adults, but two-year-old jet lag is another beast. Anne has no concept of forcing herself to stay awake and let me tell ya, we can't force her either. She falls asleep when she needs to and we can't wake her. She wakes in the middle of the night and then we're up. It took 5 days for her to adjust in Ethiopia, so she should get back to normal soon...we hope. The sleep we have gotten in our own beds has been heavenly though. =)

Here is the face of jet lag (cute as it is):
