We Are So Blessed

Even though the emotional roller coaster of adoption has been very difficult at times, I have to remind myself how very blessed we are. Annie is amazing. She is a gift. We have a daughter - a beautiful, Ethiopian daughter. How awesome is that? There is a precious little person who is waiting for us on another continent, and we have been given the honor of being her parents. Yes, we are missing out on a lot of really cool baby stages, and that breaks my heart, but I don't want to forget for one second how good God is to us. We don't deserve such a grace. We may miss a couple more months of her life, but Lord willing, we will have the rest of our lives to hug her and kiss her and be near her. So, moms out there, hold your kids close and remember what a blessing they truly are. Changing poopy diapers, having sleepless nights, dealing with that fussy baby - you wouldn't trade it for anything.

Also, we found out yesterday that Anne now weighs 13 pounds and is 25 inches long. That wouldn't mean much to me normally, but my nephew Treyton is the very same size. It is really cool to be able to watch him and hold him knowing that it would feel about the same to hold her. So, I'm not sure if she is actually younger than the birth date on her paperwork, which our agency thinks she is, or if she is just really small for her age. Treyton is a little over four months old and she is supposed to be coming up on seven months on Sunday. We may never know!
