If you would have told me a year ago, in the midst of waiting for our Annie, that at the same time next year I would be selling coffee again to raise money to bring home our next little peanut, I wouldn't have believed it. Nope. It would have seemed too good to be true. But it is true! We have a whole lot more to save and raise in a shorter period this time around but I know that everything is God's anyway and He'll provide it precisely when He means to.
Anyway, the coffee is here and smells wonderful! Here is my post from 11/20/09:
"We loooove coffee. So I thought, what better way to raise a little extra money than to get back into the coffee selling biz? ;) We are selling one pound bags of Alterra’s Ethiopian Harar Blend for $15.00. Alterra is a great roaster out of Milwaukee. We purchased all of our coffee for Higher Grounds from them. The Ethiopian Harar is a medium-light roast that is full bodied and smooth. This is the description from Alterra: 'Milk chocolate and berry-fruit notes are abundant, while mild, sweet acidity and creamy body round out the cup. Unique and very drinkable!'"
Harar is an ancient, Ethiopian city and some of Annie's birth relatives were from there. Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee and Harar is especially known for its delicious beans.
Let me know if you are interested in purchasing some. They would make great Christmas gifts! We have whole bean and ground available in the Ethiopian Harar and since Alterra doesn't have a decaf in that bean we also have a Breakfast Blend in decaf that was our house blend at Higher Grounds - very good stuff.
